On Sunday my husband got up early at 4 am to join a new pal he had met the day before fishing they were going to a new spot that this other person goes to. Well i was in middle of preparing vegtables etc and getting dinner on as i have a phone call he wants to stay an hour longer it is 9 am so i say ok then. 20 minutes later i have a phone call to say there's been an accident and he need's to go to casualty to have stitches!! He had cast off and the reel had snagged at opposite side of river and he had tugged the line which caused the weight which is attached half way to catch his eye. My father takes me to get him and its then that we see the damage on his face still not expecting what was to come!
We see nurse etc who tells us his pupil has enlarged etc,he see's another doctor who sends use to the eye ward.By this time he feels very faint is sick too so the give him an injection to prevent sickness. They are concerned about the headaches which has not alleviated by the tablets he was given etc.. They sent him for a scan as they are worried he might have clot to brain etc...they are debating about sending him to another hospital instead they send him to theatre. He goes in at 4 pm and does not return till 7:45 pm he stays in sunday and monday night.Doctors say they can do no more there has been damage to the eye but cannot say the extent as he has had heamorage and blood in front and back of the eye. He is discharged tuesday-but he has not had good news they cannot say how long it will take for the eye to get better whether there will be an improvement in the eye it could take years and then his eye will not be the same as it was-we just have to wait and see! hope for the best !! The worst thing about it is that the eye it hit was his good eye and he will not be able to drive if the eye does not get better has his vision in the other eye will not be sufficient for him to drive !!
As they say you take so many things for granted such as our sight, our limbs etc and its only when something like this happens that you realize how much we rely on them!
I will have to keep you posted with the developments!
